This is a cool movie. Probably the most simple way I can describe it. Everything just feels…cool. The action is fun, combined with Hans Zimmer’s heart-pounding score. I’m not a big superhero guy, but this is one of my favorites.
Probably one of the most thrilling movies I’ve ever seen. Every scene feels entertaining, even when there’s not much going on. The Coen Brothers masterfully utilize their sound design to envelop the world in a rich, apprehensive texture. This is not even to mention the performances. Javier Bardem is the standout, but Josh Brolin also delivers an intense portrayal. All-time favorite for me.
Hallie Steinfeld and Jeff Bridges give amazing performances. Despite my expectations, the Coen Brothers crafted a pretty straightforward western (not surprising considering this is an adaptation of a book from the 60s). That’s certainly not a bad thing, however. The film’s simple structure, snappy dialogue, and emotional potency make for a really fun viewing experience. Unfortunately, I worry that the film might not stick with me as long as something like No Country for Old Men.
Pretty entertaining movie. Very stylistic, as is expected from a Tarantino film. Felt rather self-indulgent at times. Wished for some more character development, but overall I can see why it’s considered a modern classic.
