The Boy and the Heron 2023
An instant classic. At this point Miyazaki has a formulaic approach to making movies and this movie especially felt like it followed the formula largely to a tee. While I can see how it could be seen as cliche, I think it is yet another beautiful Ghibli movie. All the classic themes are there: anti-war, environmentalism, feminism, etc. It's great. loved this movie.

A Complete Unknown 2024
Another entry into the “Bio-Pics I didn’t ask for but, sure, I guess I’ll go see it” category. It was decently well produced, the acting was compelling, and was a good snapshot of the 60s. Still, the story was plain and reaffirmed my attitudes towards the creation of bio pics in this decade, and how our obsession with rehashing the past is preventing us from pushing the envelope to mint new classics.
