In the seeming absence of emotion and subjectivity, what becomes apparent is the inherent presence of emotion and subjectivity in art even in the utter effort to dispose of it. The camera, pen, etc and the choice of when they are worth being used is in itself the end of realism.

When Harry Met Sally... 1989
Nothing like that baby boomer obsession with finding a partner. That is Sally’s and Harry’s most prominent personality trait.
Leaving alone that issue as well as the misogyny of the entire concept, the awful 80s fashion, the heteronormativity and patriarchal lens through which love is understood, the awful "humor" and the one-dimentional typification of the characters, it is at times clever and cute plus there’s Carrie Fisher!

No Country for Old Men 2007
This movie made me wish I was a lesbian.
I think the problem is that I don’t really care. I don’t care about these “manly” endeavors to “get the cash”, “protect your wife”, “protect your country”, “protect your pride”. I don’t care. I hate cowboys and sheriffs. I don’t care about drug-deals gone wrong or manhunts. I don’t care about money theft or guns or knifes. I just don’t care.
It is what I call a “man movie”. Movies for men who wish they had a wife home that will be submissive and guns they can play with. I don’t care for them at all.
