Old movies always do seem to have more focus on content rather than form. A whole movie of people talking on a single room, about a single subject, and all of it mattered. Brilliant
This movie (or better, Hiraiyama) seems to be really sticking with me.
The more I think about the movie, the better it becomes. You are used to watching movies - so as the movie builds up Hiraiyama’s routine, you keep expecting something disruptive to happen.
And sure, some things do happen, but they are not really disruptive. The movie is not about them. There's not any big change of pace or of mood.
