a dialogue driven film that lets you dive into the characters. the small scale and low stakes of this movie is what makes it for me. there isn’t much razzle dazzle but much of life isn’t razzle dazzle. it has a really grounded portrayal of ptsd, depression, and grief that felt real and resonated with me.

brian tyree henry’s performance is so natural and effortless, it draws you in. definitely deserving of the oscar nom.

    overall really enjoyed this one.

A seemingly simple premise with poignant imagery and undertones. Even without the allegory to the irish civil war or any deeper meaning it’s a beautiful told and shot film about pride, friendship and legacy. All the characters are very well written and fleshed out. And this movie is effortlessly funny i wouldn’t call it a comedy but the heavy themes and moments are very well balanced with moments of levity and witty dialogue.

My favorite part of this movie though is the cinematography. The movie is absolutely beautiful to look at.

I loved the film and would watch it again.

Visually very nice to watch. Cate puts in an amazing performance, one i can see her winning the Oscar for.
The story feels really meandering though with no real resolution, which i guess is the point. It made me feel like i was losing it as i watched her lose her grip in real time.
Still, most of the film feels like set up then a rushed not finished ending.

I did enjoy the watch, but don't see myself watching and revisiting this one again.
