Wicked 2024
I’m not the target audience for this film, but I appreciate the vibe and the acting/scene directing is really great. To me, the cinematography and overall visual design of the movie feels off, even with the big practical set pieces. The filmmaking style betrays it, looking like it was shot the same way a vfx plate would be.
There’s a lot to like with the design of the world itself, but the creators fell short on capturing it in a good light. The performances happening on screen are awesome.

Joker: Folie à Deux 2024
Arther Fleck is the disappointment here, don’t get too upset with the filmmakers about that. I felt the musical vignettes lost their impact as they’re brought back into the film repeatedly without evolving the idea. It could have been like 30mins shorter.
I do have to admit, I see myself really loving the version of this film where Arther descends into becoming the Joker. The film chose to do something different, and it stayed true to the character and it’s hard to knock them for that.
