tbh i had little interest in this film until i saw that americans on tiktok were slagging off the absolute BANGERS that are in it. so for the sake of patriotism and nostalgia, had to watch
big w for including she's the one
l for lack of nicole kidman and/or kylie cameos

🥺
the heart of this story for me was barbie's journey that represented the transition from child to woman:
barbie starts in barbieland, where the women are empowered and nothing goes wrong. much like a child, her clothes are picked for her and her food magically appears on a plate. the mirror she gazes into has no reflection, she has no perception of her own appearance. she lives in a #girlboss
slaaaay queen world where girls can do and be anything.…
the "lol women being crude" sense of humour is now overused and just feels like low-hanging fruit. the pop culture references and music choices were outdated. overall, joy ride was entertaining but not as fun as i was hoping from the trailer, and feels like a film released 10 years too late
loved deadeye and kat tho
