Manila in the Claws of Light 1975
i think that the historical context within which this film was released shows the jarring bravery of Lino Brocka.
to release such a daring film detailing the exploitation and suffering that filipinos experience during the Marcos dictatorship who wasn't even removed until a whole decade later... this film is so for the people and BY the people, especially after knowing that Brocka used REAL people as his extras. you wouldn't have felt that sense of community and realism otherwise.
