The atmosphere, acting, characterisation and most of all the ambience are GRIPPING in the first third or so, and paint a great picture of the terrifying isolation and emptiness of most of Australia. Unfortunately this is pretty much the peak of it and the actual conflict and action of the rest of the movie don’t really match up which is a shame.

Scent of a Woman 1992
Al Pacino and the boy are both great in every scene, and the writing throughout is good stuff. Unfortunately the movie is hindered by some lockstep adherence to the 1990s sentimental movies cliche, to the point of being over the top at the climactic "and everyone clapped" moment, which is much too Liar Liar for the movie's generally pretty serious and wistful tone. Nevertheless it's a good little adventure and strong showcase of mythical and unmatched old man rizz.

It was ass. Hiccup's character was totally assassinated, as if he would drop everything the second he saw a girl dragon and ditch his best pal. Every other plot point was lifted straight out of the second movie, the villain is the same, the concept of the alpha controlling the dragons is EXACTLY the same, and it even starts with the exact same scene of Hiccup and Astrid hanging out on a distant island while Hiccup explains what character development he needs to get through.
"This is not Berk... we don't have dragons". bruh

A big plot point is that he finishes his Mass and it's a huge innovative new work, and yet it's barely heard in the film. Another…
