  This movie lacks it all. Complex characters with interesting personalities, a compelling plot, originality, you get the gist. There’s quite literally nothing special about this classic that makes it a classic.   Oui oui, mon ami, this might be one of the best musicals out there. Entirely sung-through, with every song showing off top notch lyricism (metrics, rhyme patterns, historical knowledge based wit, out of this world) and a crazy mix of music genres with a rap influence. As a non-historian who has never understood timelines, never cared much about founding fathers and absolutely did not expect to love this musical as much as I did, I’m taken aback by the chokehold…

  Nothing says Wes Anderson quite like an aesthetically pleasing color palette, brilliant camera handling from all the right angles and characters that are unapologetically themselves from the very first second they show up on screen. There’s plenty of things I’d love to say about this movie, although your experience will definitely be better if you dive headfirst into the abyss that is Asteroid City without prepping too much.
