  this isn't a serious review I really would love to get my words together to talk about this another time but -- I think people don't really appreciate surrealism anymore... so I understand why a film that's "just symbolism with no substance" is off-putting but I am a strong "Men" (2022) defender. I love imagery ok

  Honestly, the movie itself is a lot better than the meme-ified internet presence of the Minions, but that's not saying much.

  It's a cute romantic comedy with some obviously memorable scenes, but you have to overlook the fact that the big "argument" of the movie is that (straight) men and women can't just be friends with each other -- inevitably, they fall in love. -Sigh-

  This felt like a movie of ideas that were beyond the understanding of the director. It could have been much better if it actually understood itself and leaned more into the political. I have a weird fondness for it, but I can't say it's deserved. The score is great, and there are some compelling scenes. Phoenix did act his socks off.
