I really love a movie that has the gall to say “fuck all subtly.”
Heavy handed, of course, but it’s very clearly the point. It brought me to tears, so it was successful in the touchy feely department. I was feeing a 3.5, but my reaction at the end makes me feel a bit conflicted about the rating. Somewhere between a 3 and 4.
I reeeeeeally wish I had been in acid for my first viewing, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

I can't think of a single thing I don't like about this movie. A masterclass in all things film, top to bottom. It may not be everyone's thing, but if you enjoy noir or just appreciate stellar-ass film making, you'll find lots to love. The directing, the writing, the music, the performances, the ending...THE ENDING. I don't have the energy to go into it right now. I'm sure I'll write up something good after an other rewatch.

This movie took me 3 sittings to watch if that tells you anything.
The first hour is pretty fucking hard to get through, but it does get a little better.The hugging scene made me cry a little though. Not sure if that's an indicator of a strong scene or weak mental state. Maybe both? Probably neither. I just miss my mom.

Convoluted out the ass, but I have tons of respect for a sequel that tries something different. Hard to say that it was "good," but it was certainly entertaining. Cut down a subplot or two and this could have been pretty solid. Not great, not super good, but a step in the right direction.
