As with all films by Christopher Nolan, Tenet is a spy-thriller that is shown in a different take on time, with some objects and people moving back through time as for them, entropy is reversed.
And also, like the films by Nolan, my levels of confusion were rather high throughout the watching, perhaps much like when reading a good Shelock Holmes novel with all its intricate details one has to remember for the story to start to make sense much…
As an unconventional western looking at raw life experience, this movie is, above all, a deep meditation into our shared humanity. Despite its grim and brutal manner it convinces through a slow-paced story with beautiful cinematography and its realistic action sequences. Hostiles' message is not given through the mere ascription of good and bad, right and wrong onto its characters, its message is rather embodied by the men, women and children of this masterpiece; their flaws and error-ridden ways and their human potential to change.
