I had profound feelings of sonder throughout this movie: I see Soznain as almost an ideal victim of his circumstances, perhaps as the movie intended. I loved the somewhat contrasting situations Mahrdad and Soznain find themselves in, even though both are interested in art.
This movie is terrifying reminder of how much suffering exists in this universe, and how little of it is acknowledged. It's the sort of movie that can cause Marxist awakenings, if there is such a thing.
