My favourite entry in the slightly (dare I say it) overrated Shrek universe. Some lovely animation, and genuinely creepy moments, with a real heart at the centre of it. Bonus - kids loved it as well.

A lot of fun, despite a saggy middle.

The Punk Syndrome 2012
An incredibly moving, and at times hilarious, documentary about the Finnish punk band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät, the members of which are are learning disabled, living with autism and Down syndrome.
The cinema verite style in which the film is shot adds to the objective and non-condescending way the film-makers tell this particular story. The subjects get to express themselves in a free way, and come across as sensitive, funny, and flawed individuals.
Rather than focusing on the individual struggles, the film works because it is essentially a music documentary about a crazy band, and the madness of touring and playing toilet venues to 30 people.
