I really wanted to like this movie more because it really captures the quiet of folktales or fairytales, which are often barren of dialogue, achieved but the moments of quiet and non-verbal sounds (animal and human). The location is also breathtaking. And while the actors, namely Rapace, are amazing in their silences, it is the animals that surprised me the most. The film was made well and I appreciate that it illuminated the lives of an unrepresented community and the ball culture. Yet, the choice to enter this (queer) world mainly, if not only, through the perspective of a white, cis, male character made me a tad dissatisfied.
