Deathgasm 2015
Deathgasm wears its influences on its soundtrack and on its sleeves - D&D knowledge, laborious gag set-ups, Beastwars and Bad Taste. The possessed are zombies, the blood is bright, and the metal is noice.
It's also genuinely sweet. Fake metal sucks, so do bullies, and the nice girl and guy should always win. Every cheerleader is just a spin of Slayer away from being awesome.

A Clockwork Orange 1971
Like much of Kubrick's work, Clockwork is perfect, every frame a painting, and it makes me wanna puke, it's so gruelling.
But I return ad infinitum because Alex is one of the greatest antiheroes, the decor is to die for, and who can resist a retro future?
Their society is sick, stylish and vapid in the wholehearted way the English do well. I despise Alex's smirk, his pompous music collection, his swagger and hedonism. But McDowell is so cool... Hand me the false eyelashes - I need to sing Singing in the Rain and invent irony

She Said 2022
This isn't a fun watch, but it's a thorough, empathetic and driven account of two journalists breaking precious ground against incredible systemic barriers, in regards to big fat bully rapists getting away with paid crime.
It's comparable to All The President's Men in the build of tension and in tricks - " I say, 'No, we know P is Porter.'" "You try to fake her out?" "Right." That's great scriptwriting, but the source is also completely captivating. What's more satisfying…
