SO GOOD. So intense. Casting and acting was genuinely perfect and portrayed the themes and plot so so well. I especially like how, along with the important themes of racism and hate at its worst, it also showed the family dynamic and how large the affect of Derek’s abominable behavior on his close loved-ones. It was also very interesting how, in some scenes, they humanized the neo-nazis and then showed the terrible acts they were capable of. I think this…
Inspiring, classic story about letting go of one's pride and roots to move forward and grow. A specific high note of the film was when Sean is breaking through to him and describing the legendary baseball game he missed to talk to his future wife. The feud between the distinguished math professor and community college psychology teacher also plays out the question of how individual success can vary and makes an example of material acclaim. Overall, had a perfectly melancholy ending and was a truly inspiring movie that pointed out the importance of following one's personal goals and heart.

Really, really good movie. The cast is perfect; Jack Nicholson, Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg. Gangster movies aren't my favorite, but the suspense and complicity was so real and encapsulating. Shoot-out scenes were filmed wonderfully and the staggering audio with loud, repetitive gunshots and then moments of silence were really great. The storyline of rats on both sides and how they were both so parallel (look alike, relationship with therapist, all their authority communications were in sync)…
