SO GOOD. So intense. Casting and acting was genuinely perfect and portrayed the themes and plot so so well. I especially like how, along with the important themes of racism and hate at its worst, it also showed the family dynamic and how large the affect of Derek’s abominable behavior on his close loved-ones. Really, really good movie. The cast is perfect; Jack Nicholson, Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Mark Wahlberg. Gangster movies aren't my favorite, but the suspense and complicity was so real and encapsulating. Shoot-out scenes were filmed wonderfully and the staggering audio with loud, repetitive gunshots and then moments of silence were really great. The storyline of rats on both sides and how they were both so parallel (look alike, relationship with therapist, all their authority communications were in sync)…
