I wrote a lot of wannabe analytic stuff about this movie but deleted it because I am stuck with this thought: What is the purpose of art?
In my opinion, art is one of the best ways to bring people connection and joy. Not to say that there cannot or should not be rigor involved in the artistic process. When art becomes solely rigor in order to match up with structural engineering for example, it loses its purpose.

Barbie 2023
Saw this with a group, and the majority afterwards shared that they had “expected more.” There’s this funny thing where people expect movies partially geared toward children to be subversive and be chock full of hidden meaning. My main takeaway is that this movie was fun, had a great soundtrack, and is a great movie to inspire/empower young people AND people of all ages who might not have a ton of existing language surrounding patriarchal structures. Not everything needs to nor should be Succession ;)
