  A very technically stunning and solid movie (sound, visuals, performances, grand-ness) that left me with mixed feelings about what it was truly wanting to say.

  The run-time was no issue, I enjoyed the pacing and movement of the story—it was never uninteresting.

  But I'm not entirely sure I'm sold on its thesis, and it felt like the film wasn't either.

  Everyone talks about how Miyazaki depicts food, but the way he illustrates creatures, like the cute, bouncy warawara or the military parakeets, BURSTING from some small opening and tumbling all over each other, exploding into a sea of blobs??? Yeah… I love that shit.

  The world he creates here is so majestic and grand that the storyline almost becomes secondary. Anything could have happened, and I would have been just as enthralled. Happy birthday Miyazaki! What a treat.

  I can't wait to rewatch this dubbed.
