  I first saw this in the theater when it released. I had become an Aronofsky fan after Pi and Requiem, and as a young edgelord this one did not land at all. Thought it was very pretty but it struck me as kind of up its own ass and mostly went over my head.

  Today (like 17 years later) I felt a strange urge to rewatch it and it totally sucked me in. A little suspension of disbelief is required, but it really is a visually stunning film and the performances are great.
