  I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with us as a culture if an audience full of people laugh for the entire runtime of Blue Velvet. Of course, there’s some humor in this but I doubt Frank Booth was supposed to be a comic relief character. Every scene in Dorothy’s apartment or when she is naked in front of Jeffrey’s house is apparently the funniest thing ever, and I’m a freak because the more everyone laughed the more I started tearing…

  I don't think I'll ever watch a movie I feel closer to than Phantom Thread. Not only does it have everything I love about cinema, art and human relationships but I also managed to create connections and memories that made this movie an inescapable part of my life and understanding of the world. I find new quirks to obsess over with each rewatch but the thing that made me fall for the movie in the first place was the focus…
