never expected to be so experimental and unconventional from a narrative point of view: a continuous series of images and actions that creates a place more than telling a story.

Gene Hackman’s character is the key to understand the deep soul of the movie. He first accepts the reality around the village, without initially taking any stand, to then confronts it with any possible means. So, he is the embodiment of human capacity to change and force its cultural habits. A character, often on the borderline between action and indifference, that represents the steps of acknowledgement and understanding that we ought to make in order to live free from prejudice.

Queer is the opposite side of Call Me by Your Name: a darker, shady and complex analysis of undesired love. If Call Me by Your Name is a vivid representation of a blossoming desire in the purest form possible, Queer recounts the inner turmoil of a man whose desires are trapped into a limbo (a purgatory) of place and time dominated only by visions of carnal love. On the other hand, it presents a fantasy, a journey of rediscovering the true self and fill that impenetrable distance that always torment homosexual love

    ★★

very disappointing. A sequel that wants to radically distance itself from the first one that fails in conveying any message. The mise en scene is inexistent and doesn’t translate the meaning into a coherent and credible story arc that explains the complex split personality of Joker/Arthur Fleck.
