  Since I watched this film for the first time back in November I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it, and I don’t know why. Maybe it was Adam Sandler’s performance, or the insane storytelling and character building accomplished by the cinematography alone, the New York setting, the plot importance of the NBA… I dunno, but I had to watch it again.

  Seeing Howard interact with Phil within the first 10 minutes is haunting after knowing how this film…

  The Lego Movie 2014

  I love how this film takes advantage of the format by incorporating the very nature of LEGO into not only the art style, but several story beats and writing moments. The anti-consumerist commentary in the opening scene is also hilarious. That being said, the plot structure and dialogue is so horrendously formulaic that if it wasn’t for these things it would be borderline unwatchable

  This film is gorgeous. The colours and the framing of every shot is captivating. I especially loved the editing here, the pace felt steady and every second was interesting and dynamic, which made for a great viewing experience. The first act presents such a sense of wonder in a near apocalyptic setting, and I think that’s where the beauty comes from.
