the ending is absolutely perfect for this film.
we don’t need a direct answer to know that time travel cannot stop the violence. because when you’re black and in America, there’s no way out of certain situations. no matter how many times she goes back, we know someone has to die.
cj’s struggle to change her past mirrors the usa’s struggle to fix the injustices we still see today. and it foreshadows what will continue to happen if this system doesn’t change.
we cannot change our past, but we must do everything in our being to save the future.
