The first 2 thirds were sublime. Taking simple and well trodden story puzzle pieces (dead mum, newly moved to the countryside, magical creature, backdrop of war, etc) and combining them into something beautiful with care and emotional richness. Gorgeously animated. A character putting on their shoes is treated with the same reverence as anything else
