“If you’re looking for nothing from him, that’s a great option.” -Allysa, my favorite part of this movie and more or less how I feel about it as a whole.

I want to shove this movie down a flight of stairs for its depiction of the man our protagonist falls in love with. Ryle may love her, but he does not respect her in the slightest. He consistently disrespects her boundaries, pushes romance and sex on her even after repeated…

    ★★★

Many wonderful things in this movie
    - Samuel L Jackson is so very Samuel L Jackson. Perhaps the most Samuel L Jackson he’s ever been
    - Uma Thurman
    - The Spirit Of Conversation !!
    - Great production design
    - The fact that we never know what’s in the briefcase

I just don’t get the masterpiece hype though. Overall, it was just alright. I waited for it to be over for a good chunk of the middle. Y’all can revoke my…

My biggest praise to Joker is that it’s incredibly well-made. The lighting, coloring, cinematography, and Joaquin Phoenix’s performance stood out to me the most, making for a very impressive and enjoyable visual experience that makes this movie worthy of time and stars.

I will give it some grace for being bound to such a difficult character, but I found myself confused about what, if any, social commentary Joker was trying to make. It felt topical, in the age of failing…

    ★★★★½

Me when it's all about grief and love and always has been.

Going just a tad feral at such bold representation for old gays, the chemistry between Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke's gen z icon, the costuming, PATTI LUPONE?!?!? The entirety of episode 7 made me optimistic about the unique and unlimited possibilities for storytelling in film. The reveals were well done for first watch and rewatch value. Minus a half star for a mid ending, which fell predictably into the recent Marvel trap of shifting focus to set up a new thing. All in all an incredibly pleasant surprise in quality and enjoyment.
