Kubrick manages to capture the absolute lack of empathy needed to participate as an active combatant in a war.
On a cinematographic level, Full Metal Jacket should be shown at every film school in the world. The movie manages to be well lit at dusk, dawn, day and night. The first and second acts utilize static and dolly camera movements really well, while the third act utilizes hand held cameras for a gripping action effect.
Wether you’re a movie buff or not, Full Metal Jacket is one of those movies that is a must watch, even if you’re pro or anti war.
