    Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat

From my interview with Johan Grimonprez for Documentary Magazine's Spring 2025 issue:

No summary could ever do justice to what Belgian filmmaker Johan Grimonprez has created through his audiovisual-textual collage Soundtrack to a Coup d’État (2024). ★★★★½

I finally watched No Other Land yesterday, and one thing that really struck me was how Basel and Yuval’s discussions were haunted by a palpable tension, full of silences and unspoken words that clearly reflected that these two people spoke from uneven, unequal grounds. No Other Land is less a film about camaraderie & solidarity between an Israeli and a Palestinian, but about the unbreachable gap separating two societies that would start to narrow, if and only if a free and independent Palestine is established, but never to be completely erased.
