  Not as bad (or amazing) as the rabid fanboys would have you believe. It's still not "great", but it has some interesting ideas bogged down by questionable execution. The film feels at its strongest when focused on Rey, Luke, and Kylo, but becomes aimless the more time spent on Finn/Rose/Poe's B plot, plus a lot of the humor doesn't land effectively and undercuts a lot of serious moments. Ultimately, I give this movie credit for sticking to an overall message and themes, something the future installments would sadly ignore.
