  Any potentially interesting theme is expelled from the plot as soon as it becomes half formed. Feels like watching a high school play with special effects. At least they didn’t use cgi?

  Immaculately camp. The writing is as stony as Arnie’s dumb beautiful face. Lovable chinless Arnold Stang, acting as friend and guide, repeatedly fails to realise that Arnie may actually be Hercules and not just a Greek man suffering delusions of divinity. We see Arnie waving cheerfully from outside an airplane window as he falls through the clouds on the way down to earth. Once in New York, he accidentally becomes involved with the mafia.   Terrible, yet anything with Arnie can be redeemed. In this case it’s his commitment to a ridiculous character. There’s so much murder it’s annoying. Nice pops of primary colours in the set design though.
