  I honestly can’t believe that this is real. James Baldwin has always been a character that fascinates, with his inaugural wit and political competence only to be overlooked by a group of white filmmakers. His preeminence in art towers above that of most filmmakers, and so intelligent it makes me want to watch this over and over.

  I started watching the first 30 minutes on youtube by myself, in maybe 720p: mistake by me I know. Nevertheless I was blown away by it so I paused it and thought I should get the Criterion copy and watch with my family. 

  Fast-forward about 6 weeks and I got my family to sit down and watch it - they loved it, I fucking loved it, and has become the best experience watching a film (about family) with my family.…
