There is a lot to talk about this movie, firstly the fact that all the actors names sound fake from “Anna Aries” to “Beverly Powers” to “William Smith” secondly despite this movie having a lot of nudity there was no kissing. Characters would try to pretend to kiss but it was obvious that they were just squishing their faces together in hopes of making it look like they were kissing.
This movie also had an obsession of not only showing…

Ultimately I am really not sure how I feel about this film. It is hard to properly review it without seeing Volume 2 but as a stand alone film I found that the plot did lack a certain level of depth I was hoping for. It is a revenge story and it does not really deviate from that basic idea at all. What makes the film worth while is the aesthetics, as this movie, like many of Tarantino's, oozes with style from the music to the outfits. The fight scenes also have great choreography.

Many thoughts went through my head while watching this movie. One of them was the fact that someone paid for this, either a guy saving up his money for a few years, or borrowing money from someone else, either way that thought hurts me.

I first watched this film when I was around 13-14 and, even though, this film isn’t nuanced with its message I definitely missed out on the depth it offers. The character writing and how they all interact make the movie feel very real as within all characters exists this multifaceted nature that has all seem both redeemable and human. Miyazaki is very clearly an environmentalist but he puts so much care and effort into creating the characters he disagrees with that I cannot help but appreciate that aspect of the movie.
