The Brutalist 2024
Monumentally beautiful, triumphant and innovative, but not fully perfect. Easy to lose yourself in its power - the library building sequence, so inspiring and somehow moving, that’s how powerful it is. Something so timeless and transcendent about it, especially in today’s world. The entire sequence in Italian quarry was so magical. There’s always darkness lurking around in László’s architecture. The first half to me felt so spiritual, like a gift from heaven. Will be looked back as one of era defying American movies of our time.
