  I could just copy and paste the review to the last movie I watched, only having to take away the "Turd Night" bit.

  In both, a couple go to a new home (this time they're renters) and are terrorised by a psycho. And in both, the couples fall apart under pressure to the point of annoyance. Except this one is found footage and no cats die.

  I should've read the cover more carefully and saw this is from the creator of Punk'd. I need not have ever seen it if I had paid more attention.

  Afraid is a found footage horror movie about a cheating whore and her unmanful boyfriend being insufferable for 80 minutes. And the gimmick here is--they're being watched!...DUM! DUM! DUM!...what an original idea for a found footage film!
  This movie was like watching somebody clean their dirty hands with a dry paper towel or sitting in economy class with a crying baby behind you--it makes you feel angry, tense and uncomfortable...but not in the way a good horror movie would.

  Afraid is a mediocre horror movie about a couple spending three nights together in an isolated rental deep within the forest. Unbeknown to them, every move is being watched by a unknown voyeur with a affinity for technology which enables him to access social media, medical records and clone mobile phone signals all targeted towards the the girlfriend who (in the films most notable facet) is played by Alanna Masterson of Walking Dead fame. The film frustrates, aspects of the storyline are painfully forced (such as when Alanna 'conveniently' trips, badly hurting her ankle when trying to escape, which meant that simply leaving the house was no longer an option) and the ending is telegraphed and no surprise whatsoever.   liked it even more the second time. if it ratcheted up the tension & scares a bit more towards the end, i'd call it a newish ff classic.

  it's nicely paced, they don't overdo the bickering couple stuff, and they interject some unfriended style in-screen elements very slickly.

  I love slow-burn, high-tension FF films and this was right up my alley. It didn't follow the usual formula for these films, which was refreshing. I thought the actors did a good job and I love the inclusion of the technical, digital information. I think we all wonder how much information a bad actor could get so this hits a point of anxiety for everyone nowadays. Great little FF film. Definitely recommended.

  A couple take a weekend retreat only to have their romance morph into terror, when they realize their every move is being watched by the owner of the cabin they are staying at.

  Eh. Aside from a few good jump scares, this movie wasn’t nearly terrifying enough to justify its title. The majority of the movie is shot with security or handheld cameras, so you kind of got that ‘Paranormal Activity’/‘Blair Witch Project’ vibe, but with much less success. In fact, most of this movie slogs along and is more about the couple’s dysfunctional relationship than being a truly scary movie.

  two new found footage films in two days, and both of them are surprisingly good. i'd honestly given up hope of finding watchable new ones. jason goldberg, director of afraid, you've given me a glimmer of hope.

  this isn't in the same league as the horror in high desert sequel from yesterday, but genuinely enjoyed it. the bickering couple stuff is not especially well done, but it's not as annoying as things like that can be, & otherwise this is a ff hoot. it's relatively short (definitely not the 125m running time it's tagged with here - it's about 80m), has some good 'unfriended'-style in screen…
