Awe is a fresh, brilliant and bold debut from Prasanth Varma. The slow burn narrative is packed with interesting characters and well written storyline themes, which keeps its suspenseful enough until its big finale reveal. More than connecting the storyline dots, the way wide range of sensitive topics are seamlessly integrated, makes you appreciate the effort even more. The technical values and the performances are solid. If you’re in for an out of the box concept film, Awe is definitely worth your time.

German Expressionism. Grandfather paradox. Multiple personality disorder. Homosexual orientation. Child sexual abuse. Substance abuse. Butterfly effect. And finally, the ever interesting Bhagavad Gita.
Just read those terms. Seem like they are subjects of a very ambitious filmmaker who wants them to be a part of his script but not daring (or should I say, intending?) to explore any one of them fully. But if that happened? Awe! would never be ambitious. It would have been just... logical. Or a film based on a screenplay which staunchly believed in a particular logic or theory.
Okay, German expressionism is a filmmaking aspect here. But the rest find their way into the storytelling through various subplots that merge into one at the end.…

Ambitious and unique attempt but it just felt half baked and performances were unnatural. Great concept tho it's just the execution didn't work out fine for me.

Even on a rewatch, except for some issues in the second half, the film stands tall.

A lot of ingredients in this madcap concoction. Possibly offensive. Definitely entertaining!
Edit: As I've seen mentioned in a different review, this might be the perfect entry into Indian cinema. It feels more American than anything.
