I enjoyed this! I can’t name a ton of films exploring that tension between ambition and insecurity, especially as well as this did. It felt easy, the atmosphere calming, and was a good way to start the morning :)
SXSW DAY 3
PREMIERE
Maybe I was just a little too tired, but this movie felt too long. It is about an aspiring rapper who attempts to make connections in Toronto to promote his music which he cares a lot about. The whole movie made me think about one of my best friends Nikhil who is a rapper, a lot of the stuff in the movie sounds like things I’ve heard Nikhil talk to me about. That being said, 40 minutes could be cut from the movie and it would have been a lot better. Some parts I liked, but overall too long. Plus everyone sounded like Drake
SXSW #16
Calling this movie chill feels like both a perfect fit and a terrible mischaracterization. On the one hand, we followed our hero on his very urgent quest to gather his mcguffins, err I mean tracks before it's too late...to meet the local hero. "I didn't. Other people told me I was ready. I guess I just believed them."
Yoooooooooooooooo. Charming, fun, funny, felt so true to this city in so many ways – bathroom scene especially. Appreciated the compressed/slice of life timeline and the honesty it gives. Thank you RPFF for the Q&A!
VIP’S DEBUT YEEEAAAHHHHH
Loved the story. Something many artists can relate to. Well done and well executed. Made the city a character in the film.
Such a great film. Great balance of drama & comedy. So many Toronto jokes. Love seeing the city shown this way. Can’t wait to watch it again 🔥
