4 old college friends come together in their student club after many years and all face different problems. This sounds like a good start of a movie, and it is, but Cloaca never really takes a lift-off from there. The original theater piece might be more interesting.
I noticed how much of this movie, in terms of camera movement and especially music, is taken from P.T.A.'s Magnolia, which is so jarring and kind of disappointing that it takes me out of the movie. I feel the movie might have been better if they had tried to make it into its own thing. Also, several moments in the script are confusing, with more time needing to be passed than indicated and vice versa. This makes the movie somewhat jarring on occasion.
The good thing is that the actors remain absolutely spectacular.
An interesting and occasionally amusing dialogue heavy stage adaptation. The characters aren't really sympathetic to me, which undermines some of what its trying to do, but its still compelling enough to watch.
