During World War II, the Germans convert the castle of Colditz into an escape-proof prison where recidivist escapees are imprisoned under one roof. The most accomplished escape artists are gathered there, brave soldiers who view escape not only as a challenge but as a duty, in order to harass and irritate German forces as much as they can.

The only reason I watched this was for Tom Hardy, and it definitely pays off because he looks absolutely stunning, and his character being so in love with a girl is really cute.
The first half of the film isn’t bad—it actually keeps you entertained and pulls you in. But the issue lies in the runtime; even though I appreciate three hours of Tom Hardy, it’s just too much. The movie loses focus and turns into a mediocre love story. The character development feels odd, the main point of the movie gets lost, and the ending is so disappointing.
But, once again, Tom looks absolutely gorgeous, so there’s that.
So boring and pointless so if anyone wants to know, these 2 stars are for Tom Hardy only who looked very cute the whole 3 hours.

As someone who was raised as a male in America, I have a big obsession with everything WW2 related and because of that it takes a lot for me to not enjoy something set in this time period. The premise made it sound like a tv-movie version of The Great Escape which I thought could be mildly interesting but sadly this was painfully dull. Hardy was great but not even his talent could make this overly long film watchable.

Surprisingly terrible. For an actual movie see 'The Colditz Story', or if you have time watch the lengthy (28 ep) 1972 series 'Colditz'.
Three early POWs are set on escaping for three different reasons. Love of glory, love of a woman, and love of self. All paths are fraught, I'm afraid.
An excellent little miniseries, as the British so often are, showing off the war, the London blitz, and vexed romance.

It's ok, it makes me want to learn more about the real place. The twist towards the end doesn't really make sense but then this is a pretend story so...
How much i love WWII movies... but this a three hours nonsense as it's not a tiny realistic. Soviet soldiers would be killed at the spot for such an actions as the characters made there, but not being kept in castle.... duhh. So told me it's a comedy not a drama at all....
However one star for young Tom Hardy, the only reason of watching this... bye
