Former chef for the Hakkasan Group gets conned out of loads of money by his estranged mother.
By working in this industry by coincidence, we have a connection with these guys, Graham, Heather and Juan.
(And Francesco who you only see at the very end of this documentary, in the kitchen in the middle of the group of four chefs)
Heather had been working under Graham (quite literally we now know!) as a chef.
Graham was Heather’s boss when they started up together.
Heather and Graham kept their relationship a secret up until Heather left Hakkasan. Then Graham announced that they were an item.
It’s nice that Graham was so happy with his new baby with Heather.
But no mention…
im tired of these pointless docs who cares anymore
just no offense like … why did it take him forever to notice?? like i could understand if he was younger and like a child … but he wasn’t? and why did he let his mum ruin his relationship? especially the relationship with his son like whaaatttt
The saddest thing about this is that this guy has close to £100000 available to him to cover his mum “whilst she gets funds together” (plus at least triple that in credit) and yet doesn’t consider himself cash rich…. I’m truly a pauper.
Listen to your wife
this is actually sad on how much she used his love for him wanting a mother against him after 45 years of him searching and its scary how much she knew about his mother to be able to pull this off. the fact she had turned so many people on eachother is crazy and how charismatic she is to play this dumb character who is generous. I thought this was a film it kinda is but more of a documentary but still great for such an interesting view of a popular british chefs life
mama, a mama behind you
Unbelievable that a mother could do that to her son and also scan so many others. Very sad
TRUST. NO. BITCH.
being like 90 and a scammer is wicked work
I feel like everyone in this doc was way too trusting. If my long lost mom asked me to front a $20k hotel stay, I woulda left her like she left me.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I always go into this type of film thinking, “you fucking idiot…how could you fall for this,” BUT in this case, *spoiler* the scammer really is his mum. So there is much deeper psychology at play. It’s not just about being woo’d or adorned with gifts. This is about the innate childhood desire for love and acceptance from a parent, especially an absentee one.
The true tragedy of this story is the breakup of another little boy’s family. The legacy of distrust and abandonment may live on in ways that the father did not anticipate. Even when we have supportive people around us who advise us in just ways, we can still fall to human error and primal desires. Our parents can be strangers to us, and they can be bad people who we try to find good in. That is a painful reality that this film explores, albeit at a surface level.
