Seventeen years of cinephilia and six years of (sometimes very expensive) film school did not prepare me for whatever it is that this film has decided is "cinematic storytelling".
Over the course of 90 feverish minutes, I never know where I am, what anyone is doing, or what anyone wants or needs - but by the end of the ride, I've enjoyed some shimmers of queerness, a radiant Georgina Verbaan, an entirely sexless but beautifully ridiculous soundtrack, and some sun-kissed 35mm that somehow lends a certain oomph to the proceedings.
Also, Victor Löw (!), as Ian, the Danish (!!), wheelchair-bound (!!!) nightclub mogul (?!?!), FTW.
I sure now understand why my ten-year-old self was so hella confused about EVERYTHING back then.
