finally, a horror movie about DID that - instead of fantastically dramatizing or demonizing the disorder - shows actual care to the subject, and empathy for those who suffer from it, both in this fictional world and our real one.
there is an inherent horror to DID; it is formed by trauma so deep that we must lose ourselves to cope with it. someone entirely not yourself takes control of your body, and you lose chunks of time, you lose memories. memories of precious people and events are lost as often as memories of trauma are. you don't know where you've been or what you've done; sometimes you don't know who you are. are you real? were you ever? or…
