Expected little from a movie called Fetus with a poster that looks like THAT, but I actually quite enjoyed this. This has a really low-budget shot on video feel to it, which of course I love - the bad acting (especially the Coyote scene!!!), ugly cinematography, the entire budget being spent on gore which looks pretty fucking sick. I have never seen another movie where a man pulls a centipede out of his dickhole! What an accomplishment for cinema! Not even sarcastically that rules! Appreciated that this was a bit unconventional in terms of storytelling. Streamed this w my friend and we had this huge discussion/breakdown of it afterwards, which I rarely find myself doing with something that is a self-proclaimed "gore film".
Hooptober V: The Fifth One
19/32: Anniversary Film
“How could you have done this to me? Don’t you realize you’ve damned your whole family?”
If this film is any indication of director Brain Paulin’s level of craft, I need to seek out his others films. Fetus is an grotesque splatter feature that has an engaging story to keep it from loosing sight of the plot.
When Kevin (played by the director himself) loses his wife due to a breached birth, he slips into grief-stricken insanity, desperate to find a way to bring his wife back to him.
What follows are scene after scene of vomit-inducing gore effects and they never let up. The effects really make you squirm, they’re so…
One of the finest underground horror and splatter films that I’ve ever seen.
,,Fetus‘‘ is a tragic and vile experience with a very sad plot. A man loses his wife and new born during the process of birth and then tries to revive them through satanic/necromancy rituals. Which means killing and sacrificing people. That’s only the beginning of the story and everything starts to get extremely fucked up, soon.
It is a very well made and actually super impressive film if you think about the zero/low budget approach. ,,Fetus‘‘ features a lot of disgusting and shocking scenes and moments, which I really liked and some I even loved. In one scene there is a ,,Nekromantik‘‘ poster on the wall. And ,,Fetus‘‘…
Paulin double feature!! Probably the most grotesque and goopiest out of all of his movies i’ve seen, my jaw dropped a few times. It also had a tiny found footage feel in certain scenes? I loved it!! Where else are you gonna see a giant monster come out of someone’s pussy, necrophilia, and a terrifying bubbly reanimated corpse? Skin peeling goodness <3
I also adored the living room record store/video store/occult shop. I love his love for Jörg Buttgereit and metal!
For the g0re wh0res :)
Self-proclaimed "gore film", Fetus presents quite the visual feast of ghastly FX, staining basement carpets and farting demonic excrement as it chugs away in an all-too-bleak hell.
A 70 minute tale of vengeance against the medical community sees a guy that looks like Philip Seymour Hoffman if he was the roadie for Metallica mourning the death of his wife after a severely botched c-section. These doctors must have shown up drunk that day cause the procedure turned devastating pretty damn fast! Now our schlubby lone wolf wants revenge while also resurrecting his deceased wife, so he seeks Satan's help and well let me tell you folks, Calamity Ensues! (Cue the Benny Hill music!)
This was mostly a blast - the…
Shot for a buck fifty on a potato-cam 2000™️, a clue to the horrors of Fetus lies in its oh so subtle title.
Following the loss of his family in childbirth, Kevin turns to the dark art of necromancy in a bid to contact his wife on the other side. Soon the stress of his loss and the added burden of satanic panic has his brain descending into a spiral of pain fuelled madness.
Amateur dentistry?
Dismemberment?
Flaying?
This is pretty horrific stuff.
Hard to watch. Harder to listen to. Surprisingly sad and yet on EUM for good reason, Fetus delivers on its low budget gore premise and then some.
Pretty nasty little super low-budget gore film written, directed, shot(?) and edited by, and starring Brian Paulin. Who's also responsible for all the gory practical special effects, which is kind of the show stealer here. I mean, in the opening credits, they literally refer to this as "A Gore Film by Brian Paulin".
The story is pretty straightforward, you have this happy couple but then the woman dies during child birth so the guy (Brian Paulin) goes out of his way to bring her back to life? And kills a bunch of people. And then towards the end some crazy shit happens, I'm not quite sure actually.
And yeah it's cheap. Shot on video, performances aren't great, the effects aren't…
Scavenger of Human Sorrow (A Spooky Season Marathon)
This is basically the modern equivalent of an H.G. Lewis film. It's a showcase for gore effects that are designed to make you squirm. It's extreme metal lyrics realized on your screen. A barrage of mangled and eviscerated flesh. An assault on your senses.
Your enjoyment really boils down to how much you enjoy that sort of thing.
If you can appreciate the creativity and artistry that goes into creating such practical effects on a budget, and aren't sickened by the imagery, this is for you.
Watched with Jozlyn
By far one of the worst film productions (if this can be called production) that I've seen this year, a terrible performance, effects taken from a school project, there's nothing interesting besides the gore that isn't that good either, I wouldn't watch it again.
This is the kind of must watch WTF movie that I’ll recommend to everyone not because it’s good but because it’s super weird and makes you question your life 💀 also the music makes it funny 😂
*Bro looks like Jesse Plemons 💀
*Nah the bathroom scene is wild🩸
*The baby head altar is pretty cool 👶
*WTF is happening in the last 15 minutes.
“You go play with your coyotes and I’ll go take a piss.”
*murder*
Pent up ginger rage. It’s a thing.
For 20min (post open) it’s pretty so-so. Padded to all hell. The plot is so threadbare it’s see-through.
But once it’s set itself up it becomes unhinged. It’s got that Terrifier carnage but with more purpose and less dollars. This is a movie you only watch for the DIY practical gore (you sure ain’t there for the story). I thought it was way more succinct and better paced than Burning Moon while delivering equal quality pulp (just less of it). I mean, that whole face off scene…
Is it true SOV? I dunno. But it’s SOV at its soul.
Bit of a tragic ending.
Mer-Predator is an interesting demon design.
Watch it here.
yoooo. this was gory AF!!!!!
i’m such a sucker for practical effects and this definitely delivered. the insane amounts of blood, puss, skin peeling, skull smashing, bone cracking, gut spilling, vomit, cronnnchy n gushy sound design, and face mutilating exceeded my expectations! some of the most unhinged things i’ve ever seen all together in one film happened (i won’t say what as to not spoil it for anyone else) but HOLY. SHIT.
necromancy, necrophilia, even a curse at the end of the film meant for the scummy losers who robbed brian’s house during filming… dude. lol.
sleazy SOV films will always have a special place in my little gore whore heart <33
this is my first of brian paulin and…
