  Glad i randomly found Fiona. I love Sleazy 90's NYC. A portrayal of a woman who doesn't give a f*ck because her own family did not give a f*ck about her. Some of the actor's are real addicts and sex workers. A few scenes i found pretty goofy and some are darker than dark. Overall i loved this film so i bought it off amazon in case it gets lost in time. Anna Levine is great and it parallels some of her actual life story it seems.

  Sick NYC scum with a documentary edge about down-and-out drug-addicted street trash, the kind of folks who make bad roommates ‘cause they can’t pay rent and sometimes end up dead in the shared bathtub. How can I get clean and keep clean when I can’t even clean myself w/o thinking about my best friend’s lifeless corpse? Bottom of the barrel problems, life in an eternal retrograde. Unfortunately, while this film sets itself up for an incredible, horrible, devastating emotional beat, it lets it slide by w/o ushering in a personal apocalypse for the two characters who make it happen. Didn’t hit me as hard as SUE, but reinforced my intent to watch more Kollek before the year is over. Fuck, man. Fuck.

  A story of broken dreams and bad decisions. Heartrending, messy, brutal, and raw as hell. Didn’t quite hit me as hard as SUE, but it has some incredible moments—the dancing-through-the-window scene, the diner standoff, Fiona and Ernie’s encounters, Fiona and her mom finally meeting. It’s grungy and often ugly and the sound is rough, though the NYC location shooting captures a time that’s totally lost. Anna Thomson is spellbinding—I especially love when she’s telling stories and her conversational voiceover sequences. Great use of music. Empathetic and humanistic, even when it’s tough to watch. Love the ending so goddamn much.

  Districarsi tra lo slang newyorkese senza i sottotitoli non è un’impresa da poco ma a parlare sono le inquadrature (sporche) con la loro stupenda estetica (sporca) che rendono perfettamente le condizioni di vita (sporche) in cui i personaggi (sporchi) sono immersi. Tutta questa sporcizia urbana è quello che il mio animo voyerista vuole, pur temendo il confronto diretto che l’andare a vedere certi luoghi vis a vis comporterebbe.
