  اللي عرفني عالفيلم وخلاني ابغى اشوفه هو حديث نور الشريف الله يرحمه عن ان الفيلم لما انعرض في اوروبا وضِع قنابل في دور العرض مما ادى ان دور العرض ماتعرضه والفيلم خسر 

  الفيلم يحكي عن محامية امريكية اسرائيلية تدافع عن فلسطيني من الضفة الغربية اللي متهم بارتكاب جرائم ارهابية عشانه بس تسلل الى الداخل الفلسطيني عشان يعيد امتلاك بيته اللي بقرية كفر رمانة اللي تبعد عن القدس 40 كيلو 

  يوضح الفيلم انتهاكات الصهاينة لاراضي الفلسطينيين وكيف انه يلعبوا بالقانون ويغيروا كل املاك الفلسطينيين لصالحهم و اللي اصبحت متاحف يستقبلون فيها السيّاح الاجانب 

  هو من اوائل افلام محمد البكري والاتطلاقة الحقيقية له في عالم التمثيل واللي قدم اداء جيد بالفيلم

  Based Films for Lefties 

  Okay, let me address the elephant in the room real quick: Jill Clayburgh’s performance is bad. It’s really bad. At times it can be shockingly bad. It was shocking to me this woman was once nominated for an Academy Award given this is all I’ve ever seen from her. I was audibly groaning in her first scene with her horrifically misguided decision to play her character as an Israeli attorney off as a second-wave feminist girl-boss, all of the confusing directions her eyeline swings around between, her abruptly shifting emotional state as if she’s contextlessly reading the script line by line with no clear understanding of what her character was trying to communicate with each line…

  Funny how the least accessible Costa-Gavras movie - that was produced and released by a major mainstream studio and has a big name cast - is the one that’s critical of Israel and loudly pro-Palestine……..

  dir. Costa-Gavras was one of the few Western filmmakers to portray oppression and struggle for liberation in Palestine for a mainstream audience. this was a film about a Palestinian man who tries to regain possession of his family home but ends up being accused of terrorism and infiltration. later on, he learns his family home was turned into a tourist attraction. 

  personally, i didn’t care for Hanna’s personal life or Gabriel Byrne’s character, who kept on accusing Mohammad Bakri’s character, Selim, as a terrorist over and over again. (sidenote: Mr. Bakri was amazing in this). i was only interested in the political aspects of this film and i appreciate the portrayal of Palestinians in a sympathetic tone, given the era…

  Edward Said's 1983 remarks "the strength of its political message overrides its aesthetic problems, which will certainly be singled out for more invidious criticism than his earlier films" may have been true then, but (1) four decades later (i.e., now), most serious leftists can see right through Israeli propaganda, so this film doesn't really seem to be outside the (modern) Overton window, and (2) Costa-Gavras had already shown us that "films with a revolutionary message can also be popular" with classics like Z and État de siège, so the terrible miscasting (which Said also acknowledged) of Jill Clayburgh and the insipid melodramatic quasi-comedic love affair side-plots of the film seem like the stuff of a B-grade director.

  wooden acting and lacklustre script but one of very few english-language feature films from the time to portray the palestinian struggle in a sympathetic light and to critique their construction as a suspect community synonymous with terrorism. not a great film at all but i'm giving it four for the same reasons edward said praised it.

  i don't know if people realize how common it was especially after the invasion of Lebanon in 82' by the zionist entity, & their sponsorship of fascist death squads in the Sabra & Shatila massacre, to condemn "israel." major museums like the Met (who are silent during this current genocide) would actually refuse to take cultural objects from "israeli" museums. here Costa-Gavras, who has raised anti-zionist politics in his earlier films like The Confession, takes a similar skepticism and critique of the inherent racist genocidal violence of the zionist project.   Was so disappointed with this one, which I’ve wanted to see for over a decade because it’s one of the few films about Palestinians. Sadly, Jill Clayburgh’s catastrophic lead performance makes the whole thing feel like a terrible TV movie.
