Quite possibly the most out of nowhere insane batshit nutso last 5 minutes of a film to ever be conceived. Like don't get me wrong the whole movie is pretty good already but that last little bit really sold me on it being a fucking great time.
Pensei q o cara iria virar uma espécie de Gojira, mas ele ficou igual ao vilão de Resident Evil 3.
A ideia do filme é ótima, mas a execução não me agradou.
god help anyone who dared to disrespect his queen..........
Henge is very very bizarre. The good news is I love very very bizarre. It doesn't always work, but I was surprised at how well made this film was. Well shot, great score, and very fun practical effects. It has trouble establishing its tone throughout its entire runtime, which does come at a hindrance to the surrounding product.
The biggest issue with the film was the acting. It wasn't bad usually, and some of the scenes had great performances, but it was incredibly uneven. One scene would be really well acted and performed, and the next would be the opposite. I can get over bad acting, but when I so clearly see examples of them doing better it makes the…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
They're crazy, the Japanese! Everything here in 50 minutes running time: relationship drama, exorcism, mutilation, a bit of Hellraiser, Tetsuo and last but not least Godzilla & Co.! A little boring, a little exciting, the last ten minutes full of pure monster-reference action.
Dude henged so freaking hard.
You're initially fooled into thinking that the English title, Metamorphosis, refers to the Kafka story. It starts out that way, with a guy turning into a bug. But it's really called Metamorphosis because it keeps metamorphosing into different classic monster movies. It becomes The Exorcist, then Tetsuo, then The Fly, then The Wolf Man, and so on, until it ends up in a fun place that I don't want to spoil.
The acting and the production values are just awful. True public access vibes, right down to the movie's length. If you really want to embarrass an actor, have him act out a possession scene where he writhes and speaks in tongues, and film it square-on with a digital camera…
A few flashes of some appropriately messy body horror practical effects (and flashes are about all they amount to) aren’t enough to enliven the repetitive structure this film establishes in its first scene, from there playing out the same scene ad nauseaum with only the supporting characters rotating. At least it has the good sense to keep itself under an hour long.
This was fucking weird. Not in a great way, just in a weird way
Accomplished an awful lot in its short runtime and despite some of the effects being on the cheaper side, they never stop committing to the bit. I kinda admire that.
i think i’ve been watching too much cronenberg lately because i was eating up the body horror in this; put the monstrous limbs back on the screen and do it now.
loved the score - reminded me of the darker aspects of angelo badalementi’s score for twin peaks sometimes while also having these subtle electronic glitches infused (except for the sweeping grandiose dramatic strings of the finale suite of course)
