Pat Riley, an obnoxious busybody of indeterminable sex, meets and falls in love with Chris, a sensitive, caring person also of indeterminable sex. Their relationship suffers because Pat's a lout, and cannot decide on a direction for their life. Meanwhile, Pat's neighbor Kyle falls further and further into obsession with Pat, fascinated by their indeterminate sexuality.

This virulently anti-queer movie commits all of its energy to gawking at and pathologizing androgynous bodies, yet it still left me more incredulous than angry. Must be because it's barely a movie. You can feel the filmmakers flailing as they attempt to expand the SNL sketch's single, hateful joke to feature length. It's practically mesmerizing to watch. Julia Sweeney's performance is one-note (half-note?): she'll deliver an oblivious "joke," then chuckle obnoxiously. Mid-'90s signifiers (a laptop diary, Ween, Camille Paglia) dot the film like fragments of pottery strewn across a desert. Charles Rocket provides the sole point of interest as Pat's obsessive neighbor, who's framed by increasingly canted angles as he ruminates, wild-eyed, over Pat's genitalia. Hacky and empty as it is, It's Pat could never be self-conscious enough to suggest this, but there is pathology here: not in the caricatured lumpiness of Pat's body, but in the minds of everyone—characters, filmmakers, nonexistent audience—who can't stop fucking thinking about it.

A 1 Hour and 18 Minute Joke With No Punchline.
Listen… I heavily support AND love my LGBTQ+ homies. But, what we have here folks… well, it’s a movie where the entire joke is that no one knows Pat’s gender. Most of the runtime is spent with Pat being sexually harassed by person after person just to try and find out.. For 1 hour and 18 minutes straight. Did someone ask for this SNL skit that’s normally 5 minutes to be turned into a movie?
It’s Pat seems like it would be more offensive to the LGBTQ+ Community rather than being supportive. Maybe that’s just me. I just really didn’t like this one.
