  Recognizing a toxic relationship can be hard because of our closeness to it. How many times have we justified something because we can't deal with being hurt by those we love?

  People saying this movie was perfect until the suddent turn it takes halfway through, did we watch the same movie? The bleakness is right there from the start. The movie's also not trying to encompass a global LGBTQ+ experience nor is it setting up anyone as goals. It also doesn't justify any of its character's actions. It's a look into this one messy, complicated, and downright fucked up relationship. And the scar that it creates.

  It's also important to have these movies. It's important to recognize that horrible people, or people capable of committing something horrible, are not going to be moustache-twirling villains. And there has to be room to explore that.

  “They didn’t understand it.” — Stephen McKinley Henderson in Lady Bird

  I really, really liked this.

  A queer two-hander through the wilderness, crawling with sexual tension, that ends up having a lot to say about toxic masculinity and the way it takes over queer relationships? Count me the fuck in!

  [SPOILER ALERT, even though Letterboxd Gays™ don’t care about those anymore and are purposefully spoiling the film in the first line of their reviews just cause they disagree with it and had their gay little hearts broken by unfulfilled expectations]

  This is a painful movie, not just for the obvious reasons, but because of the way it is presented and the eventual turn it takes. That’s life. This is a film…

  Of all the times to just take a chance on something without doing any reading on here beforehand... Anyways, don't be like me and just don't bother with this at all.

  The "do you feel safe with me?" line early in is sinister as fuck in hindsight. Miss me with this shit.

  definitely a very important film, especially for india. i loved the first half but the second half had a scene that changed the entire movie and was not properly dealt with. i felt like the audience was supposed to sympathize with the rapist, which is not ok. i loved the first half and recognize the magnitude of this film, but do not like or appreciate the second half and how the event was handled.
