I'm a fan of films from Belgium and wanted to watch this unusual take on father/son relationships. It's quite long, and moves very slowly focussing quite a lot on the windy, rainy Belgian climate.
Alain is struggling, he's a single father living in a run down part of town, works as a kitchen assistant and supplements his income by growing and selling small amounts of cannabis. His son, Milano, is a deaf mute whose mother left when he was a baby. He can hear with the aid of a (bone conduction?) device but though he's told he could learn to speak he resists this.
Milano is unhappy, he rarely, if ever, smiles. His father has worked hard to bring him…
