  Mithunam is one of its kind of poignant love story of older couple in their twilight years. It seems very rooted,cultured and suddenly it switches to beautiful and surreal piece of cinema in the backdrop of food . Though it shows romance of old couple, but the way they flirt and indulge in romantic talks, is universal, heart warming and funny at times. Mithunam stars S. P. Balasubrahmanyam as Appadasu, Lakshmi as Buchchi Lakshmi and mouth watering ‘Food’. Appadasu is connoisseur of discerning food palate who can do anything for food cooked by his lovely wife Buchchi.   Such a lovely film. This film has the perfect blend of Slice-of-life and surrealistic elements (although the surrealism here doesn't overwhelm the film) and the way Writer-Director Tanikella Bharani handled this film is surprisingly great, he doesn't use cheap soap operatic drama or does any kind of emotional manipulation on the audience as one would feel when people will hear about this particular subject matter.

  The level of maturity that Director has is admirable and I also wonder why he hasn't made any other feature film other than this?

  Now coming to the actors S.P. Balasubramaniam and Lakshmi as Appadasu and Bucchi respectively are really great, I mean it felt like they are real people with real emotions and flaws…

  Literally one of the best films I've ever seen. I was so indulged in the movie that I just loved the feel that the movie left me with. I just want to watch it again today. The atmosphere in which it takes place is so peaceful and
  placid. Making a movie this good just with
  two actors,one cow and a calf this engaging is the peak a filmmaker could reach.

  I just want to say more. I'll do after watching it again.

  Such a wonderful film with just two people and mouth watering food. Don't have words to appreciate the performances by SPB garu and Lakshmi garu.The two hours journey with the movie will makes us laugh with them,cry with them,makes us feel the love and affection between them.The end makes us emotional, but at the same time it is very beautiful.
